RNZAF mechanics maneuver an Allison V-12 engine for a P-40 Kittyhawk somewhere in the Pacific Theater. That engine weighs about 1,400 pounds (or about 100 stone, if you’d rather).

Back in the day, people would have said “about 12 cwt”
Cwt? Hundredweight. Eight stone or 112 lbs.

And I thought I had it tough wrenching on my old Torino in a gravel driveway when I was a kid. That’s next level.

Was Kittyhawk the RNZ designation? Never heard that one before.

The Commonwealth forces called them Tomahawk for the B and C models, and Kittyhawk for all the later ones. The RNZAF only had the E, K, L, and M models, so I went with Kittyhawk.

Kiwis. I watch international rugby, and the NZ players’ weights are always given in stone. As if kilos weren’t hard enough for me already.
